A scientific-practical meeting on sericulture and silkworm cultivation was held at our university
Today, the great work of our Arkadagly Serdar, the state initiatives he implements, are primarily aimed at the peaceful, united, abundant life of our people. The development of the economy through diversification not only increases its economic aspect, but also encourages our population not only to have a broad outlook, but also to be educated in this sphere.
Decent work is being carried out in many areas in the country to thoroughly study each field on a scientific basis and to gain income from it on an industrial basis. Of course, the silk industry is of particular importance among them. The fact that our people have been engaged in silk-making since ancient times and have brought their experience to the present day makes silk-making a state-important and profitable industry. The scientific-experimental meeting held at our Turkmen Agricultural University named after S.A. Niyazov this time was dedicated to sericulture and silkworm cultivation. This time, the trade cooperation specialist of the Embassy of the Republic of Uzbekistan in our country also participated in our meeting. Myratberdi Chopanov, a lecturer of our university, spoke first at the interesting meeting, and he gave general information about the cultivation of silkworms and mulberry trees in the country. According to the teacher, there are different types of mulberry leaves on which the silkworm feeds, and young mulberries are considered to be the most nutritious. A single caterpillar feeds on up to 25 grams of mulberry leaves during its developmental stages, with food requirements increasing in the final stages. The lecturer also noted that silkworms are very sensitive to food, weather, and storage conditions, so special monitoring should be done in this area.
Later, the scientific-practical meeting was continued by businessman Azat Gurbanov, a member of the Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs of Turkmenistan. In his speech, an expert said that a total of 10,400 root mulberry trees can be planted in one hectare, an average of 3 kg of leaves can be obtained from one tree, and a total of 34 pods can be kept in one hectare, considering the silkworm's nutritional requirements. Also, an expert said that mass planting of mulberry trees in the country will be very important for sericulture, and it is necessary to build greenhouses in this area.
After the presentations, the participants exchanged views on the national and international experiences of sericulture. At the end of the scientific-practical meeting, the speakers were thanked and suggested that the next meeting should be held in the country on cultivation of pistachio tree under cultural conditions.
